The Story of the
Msgr. Park Center

The Msgr. Park Center was established in memory of the late Msgr. Augustine Chang-Deuk Park, whose lifelong ministry was dedicated to serving the Korean Catholic community in the United States.

Msgr. Park believed that immigrant faith communities are not only called to preserve their traditions but also to become a missionary presence within the wider Church. Inspired by Christ’s command to proclaim the Gospel “to the ends of the earth,” he dreamed of creating a place where Korean Catholics could gather in faith, deepen their spiritual life, and collaborate in the mission of the Church.

Located in Palisades Park, New Jersey, at the heart of a vibrant Korean community, the Center was envisioned as a home for prayer, fellowship, evangelization, and service.

Today, the Msgr. Park Center continues to carry forward this vision—serving as a welcoming place where faith is nurtured, communities are united, and the Gospel is shared with the world.

The Legacy of
Msgr. Augustine Chang-Deuk Park

The life and ministry of Msgr. Augustine Chang-Deuk Park left a profound and lasting legacy within the Korean Catholic community in the United States.

Throughout his pastoral ministry, Msgr. Park devoted himself to strengthening the faith of Korean immigrants and helping them remain rooted in the life of the Church while adapting to a new society. He believed deeply that immigrant communities are not only recipients of pastoral care but are also called to become active participants in the Church’s missionary mission.

Guided by Christ’s command to proclaim the Gospel “to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8), Msgr. Park envisioned a place where Korean Catholics could gather beyond the boundaries of individual parishes—where clergy, religious, and lay faithful could meet, pray, collaborate, and support one another in the work of evangelization.

From this vision grew the idea of what is now the Msgr. Park Center in Palisades Park, New Jersey. More than a physical building, the Center represents a spiritual home for mission, communion, and service.

Today, Mee-Joo Catholic Inc. continues to carry forward the vision of Msgr. Park by nurturing faith, encouraging collaboration among Korean Catholic communities, and extending Christian charity to those in need.
